Recently Spaces, Inc completed a project for Tradewind Energy, one of the largest wind and solar project development companies in the country. They are known for sustainable innovation in the market, so it was only natural they came to Spaces, Inc, in conjunction with Weitz, Clockwork and evologic, to find a sustainable and innovative office design solution in DIRTT technology.
The Tradewind Energy offices that were part of the redesign employ 40 people and Spaces had to account for 14 offices, three conference rooms and workstations to accommodate them. In addition to the office design, Spaces worked with their sister company evologic to install DIRTT technology solutions for the walls, doors and conference room furniture.
At first, Tradewind Energy was going to use traditional drywall for their office redesign. After learning about the sustainability benefits along with the technological advantages of DIRTT products, Tradewind decided to change their gameplan. Specifically, Tradewind Energy loves the light, open space the glass walls provide. Aesthetically, Tradewind chose barn doors to match the glass walls. Technology is embedded in these walls for sustainability and ease of upgrading as technology evolves.
When it comes to sustainability, DIRTT utilizes smart design techniques to save energy and reduce real estate costs. Before implementing a DIRTT solution, mock-up software is used to reduce human error and waste during installation. In addition, DIRTT uses a green calculator to keep tabs on paper use, carbon, pollution and more. This was a perfect fit for the wind and solar project development company. The technology embedded in the DIRTT walls and doors provides many benefits to the office planning. Extra space is not used for technology storage and office design is cleaner. The technology is easy to upgrade as it evolves and changes, saving money and resources down the road as well.
