Many people make resolutions for the New Year. For some it’s losing weight, giving up an addiction or bettering oneself. But resolutions don’t need to only be for people. Offices and businesses can make resolutions, too. For a lot of companies, a great resolution for 2015 could be being more productive. Inc.com asked startup leaders ways to be more productive, and they offered up some great advice.
Make A List – Some of the most successful people start out each day by listing out goals for the day or the week. Write down big projects you’re working on or need to get done. That way you have a checklist directly in front of you and know what still needs to be done.
Use Mornings To Play Catch-Up – Don’t wait until the end of the day to get to those emails you left alone all day. Get the bulk of your emails and callbacks done early in the day. You won’t feel pressed to get everything done in the last hour of the day and will also let people know you are on top of things.
Don’t Waste Time – Social media, Fantasy Football and checking NCAA Tournament scores. They are all great ways to relieve the stress of the work day, but don’t constantly have them open on your desk. Save your social leanings and hobbies for breaks and home. Or eliminate those unnecessary time wasters from your life completely and replace them with hobbies to better yourself.
Take A Breather – It’s okay to take 5 minutes to yourself here and there to breathe, relax, reflect and regroup. If you’ve just been in a long meeting or got a huge project done, don’t just jump into the next thing. Take a breath and pat yourself on the back for a job well done before moving on.
Invest In New Technology – There’s a lot to be said about having some of the latest computer technologies and software. That’s because they can actually help productivity. Older systems may no longer be up to date with a lot of websites and tools employees need to be successful. Check out new tools and price shop to get the best deals.
Even though New Year’s Day has passed, it’s never too late to make positive changes for 2015. These are just a few easy tips you can take on to make your workday feel like you’re making the most of your time.
